    Why Learn Coding?!

So, let me guess. The first time you came to this site, you were probably thinking, why? Why would a site that seems to be primarily about original browser games have a code element of the week blog subscription? Well, there are a few reasons. But before we get into those, I just have to say. Browser games can be great things that were made with love and care, or they can be addictive hypnosis devices that get their source code pasted onto thousands of browser game sites daily. At Fireward Games, none of our games are like that. They go through Alpha and Beta testing, just like the top games like Fortnite, Minecraft and GTA. They also get changed all the time when a user isn't satisfied with them. Now that you know the difference between spam games and games with effort put into them, let's begin with the reasons why coding is the future, even if/when it seems like it's not.

PokiGames, a spam game site, with its copied and pasted games that only required effort when they were first made.

    1. Have control over what games you can play.

Coding allows you to be able to play any game you can think of and code. It may take patience, but once you are good enough to make a game that is going to someday be cheaply pasted on PokiGames or CrazyGames, you know it's good. It's even possible no one would have ever thought of a game you made, and now, look. It's there. It's playable. You have the power to make any game you want, right on your computer.

    2. You can pick your own pace

Browser games are made in JavaScript, a coding language that is rather advanced for someone just starting out. So if you still want a community to make games for, but aren't ready for the difficulty and power of JavaScript, there are many other options. Scratch is a perfect one. You code in blocks, and it has every fundamental block of code you would need for many basic games. Another that I would stay away from is Roblox. While you can make money from it, it tries to show you that coding is dragging and dropping premade blocks, but that is far from true, as no other code compilers understand the exact drag and drop language of Roblox. This means that people searching for games to play online won't come by your games, and you won't be ready to graduate to JavaScript anytime soon. It also lacks educational value, so if you are trying to get a job coding, it doesn't look good to start with Roblox. One time, I took a Roblox coding class, and I was really excited to start learning to code, when they gave no instruction and said "Make an obby" (parkour course.) I had no idea where to start, and saw other people in the class dragging blocks back and forth, and saw it as a horrible start to coding. So, you've been warned.

A block can be easily generated in Roblox, but this drag and drop lingo doesn't work anywhere else.

    3. It has many job opportunities

There are few hobbies as intricate as coding. But what if you want to take that one step further? There are many companies you can work at, or you can try your luck and form your own! You've got IBM, a cool tech company, Mojang, creators of popular sandbox game Minecraft, and many AI companies such as OpenAI. The possibilities are endless!

    4. AI is nowhere close to taking it over.

You may have seen things about AI replacing coding, but there is one problem with that. AI, right now, and probably still for a while in the future. Is mainly LLMs or Learning Language Models. This means that whatever a human tells it is what it knows. This means it has no ways of coming up with its own coding ideas that are on the internet. This is true until AI becomes self-aware, understanding it is AI and is being used for human benefit. But by then, we will all be screwed, because AI will be smart enough to shut down our microwaves, heating systems, toasters, TVs, computers, and more. So, no one wants self-aware AI anyway.
